Meet Christina McDermott, LSW: Hello! I am a therapist at Olive Branch Therapy Group and a Licensed Social Worker. I earned both my undergraduate and Master’s degree in Social Work from Monmouth University. Before working as a therapist at Olive Branch Therapy Group I have experience practicing as a therapist in multiple settings such as outpatient settings, schools, and inpatient psychiatric hospitals. My experiences include facilitating individual, group, couple, and family therapy.
My Therapy Specialties:
I work individually with older adolescents, young adults, and adults dealing with depression, anxiety, mood instability, trauma, life changes, relationship conflicts, family issues, and co-occurring diagnoses. As well as clients who identify LGBTQ+. I am passionate about incorporating mindfulness and yoga practices into the session to help clients connect with their body, emotions, and the present moment.
What drew me to this work:
Since a child I have always felt compelled to connect with and help others. I have always valued and been interested in human connection, vulnerability, and resilience. I remember when I took my first Social Work class in undergrad, I knew I had found my life’s work.
As a natural empath, my style as a therapist is warm and non-judgmental. When working with clients I take an individualized and holistic approach. I am honored to have the chance to work alongside clients and help make the hard stuff easier to sit with. I recognize that my clients are the experts of their own lives and will give you room to access your own internal strength and wisdom.
Services I offer: In-person individual, couples therapy, family therapy, as well as online video counseling for residents of New Jersey.
