Meet Dani Savvis, LPC (she/her/hers):
Hello! I’m Dani, and I am a therapist at Olive Branch Therapy Group and a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology and my graduate degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from Georgian Court University.
My Therapy Specialties:
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults seeking treatment for Crisis Management, Mood and Emotion Regulation, Social Anxiety, Major Depressive Disorder, Complex Trauma, Family Systems Work, Self-Esteem and Personal Growth, Self-Advocacy, Communication and Effective Boundary Setting, Behavioral Concerns (including but not limited to: school defiance, difficulty regulating emotions, increased anger or irritability, ODD and DMDD), Budding and pre-diagnosed personality disorders, Transitional and Continuing Care Post PHP/IOP discharge.
I also enjoy working within family systems to help encourage positive change in the home. My area of expertise is working with others to help gain a better understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and how these can impact their patterns of behavior. It is my hope that in doing so, we can establish and promote a life worth living.
What drew me to this work:
Ever since an extremely young age I have been told I was “too sensitive” or “too loud”. I was often misunderstood by peers, as well as teachers due to this and it significantly impacted my relationships during formative years. I found myself on a self-exploration journey desperate to better understand myself and the way I behaved. I have learned through my own life experiences how to harness and utilize those qualities in my therapeutic practice. My sensitivity allows me to show immense empathy. My loudness allows me to advocate for those who feel they lost their voice along the way. I have learned that in order to love yourself you first need to like yourself. In order to like yourself, you must know yourself. And in order to know yourself, you must first accept yourself.
My style:
I find it important to tailor my therapeutic approach based on the necessity of each client. I find that a good mix or balance between therapies can be useful while in session. I use therapy modalities such as CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Psychoeducation, Person-Centered Care, Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment to name a few.
I am an empathetic and understanding therapist who like’s to add creativity and lightheartedness to therapy. I am caring, friendly, and insightful. I also am direct, assertive, and maintain zero judgement in sessions. I take great pride in the therapeutic relationship with my clients and prioritize comfort, necessity, and safety.
