Meet Patrick Sweeney, LCSW (he/him/his):

Welcome! I am one of the therapists here at Olive Branch Therapy Group. I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker and my educational background includes a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Social Work both from Rutgers University. I have been working as a therapist for the past 5 years and I have been working in the mental health field for 8 years.

My Therapy Specialties:

I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults dealing with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, ADHD, life transitions, self-esteem, relationship / family conflicts, anger, and trauma.

I have particular interest in working with individuals who feel disconnected, stuck, disinterested, and want to feel more connected, engaged, and present with themselves and others.

What drew me to this work:

Growing up with a mother who is a special education teacher and a father who is a social worker I witnessed from a young age the importance of helping professions and the meaningful work these fields entail. I knew I wanted a career where I had the opportunity to feel connected to others in a unique, authentic, and positive way, which is exactly what I found in being a therapist.

My style:

As a therapist I have the privilege of providing emotional support, structure, and guidance to individuals who have made the courageous decision to improve their wellbeing and life satisfaction through psychotherapy. While individuals entering therapy often do not identify this as an act of courage, I certainly do. I believe therapy is a unique and special way of exploring our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and beliefs about ourselves and the world with the intention of improving one’s mental and emotional wellbeing. At the heart of my style is a mindfulness-based approach with an emphasis on developing a strong therapeutic relationship through warmth, compassion, honesty and authenticity.

Services I offer:

In-person individual, couple, and family therapy.
