Sara Bickar, LPC

Life can often be stressful and overwhelming. Turning our everyday tasks into mountains we are unable to navigate or climb. We then begin to lose belief in ourselves and our capabilities fostered by unhealthy negative thought patterns shaped by fear, anxiety, and depression. Taking the initial first steps into admitting there is a problem is often the most difficult and scary. Commend yourself for overcoming that fear and taking these steps to becoming a happier and healthier version of yourself. I can help you achieve these goals and facilitate awareness, change and growth.

Having over 10 years of counseling experience, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings such as individual and group outpatient to in-home and crisis including hospitals and residential treatment centers. My areas of expertise include working with individuals coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, women’s issues and postpartum and LGBTQ. I can help you address a wide array of symptoms such as lack of motivation, low self-esteem, negative thought patterns, inattention, relationship challenges, and anger management difficulties. I also specialize in crisis counseling and have worked in addictions counseling. Much of my experience has been working with adults in an outpatient setting.

My counseling approach is 100% client-centered and individualized to meet your needs at the given moment therefore constantly changing with you. I incorporate all types of modalities, but primarily use techniques from Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral and Art Therapies. By utilizing and incorporating all types of modalities I can better create a therapeutic relationship that will result in a positive change at a pace you, the client, is most comfortable with and most beneficial for your goals and needs. You navigate the sessions; my job is to help guide you along your journey. As someone on the outside looking in, it is easier to remain impartial and honest without judgment while helping you navigate towards a healthier path. Think of our sessions as your safe place!

Lastly, my clinical training and background has also afforded me the opportunity to work with clients with developmental disability diagnoses. Therefore, I am also able to provide effective counseling for adults with high functioning Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder and/or Intellectual Disabilities.
