Sejuti Mahjabin, LSW

Hello and welcome! Successful therapy has a lot to do with the strength of the relationship between client and therapist. I believe that as a therapist, I need to, to the best of my ability, stay closely attuned to my clients throughout their sessions, so that they feel heard and can express themselves freely. I believe that a sense of feeling heard, being validated, and understood, goes a long way in the healing process. I believe that there is no one more deserving of compassion than your self. I specialize in client-centered, solution focused approach that is strengths based. I will work with you to navigate through obstacles that life presents.

I received my undergraduate and graduate degree in Psychology and Social Work from Rutgers University. My areas of interest and expertise include anxiety, depression, identity struggles, life transitions, self-esteem, anger management, concerns of immigrant and immigrant children, and relationship issues. I have more than 5 years of experience working with children and adolescents in a partial hospitalization setting, and young adults struggling with behavioral and emotional struggles. I have worked in various settings such as schools, universities, hospitals and outpatient clinics.

Being the child of a first generation immigrant and from the South Asian community, I truly understand and respect the South Asian and Middle Eastern religions and cultures. I am fluent in Bengali and can understand Urdu and Hindi. I am also interested in working with struggles related to spirituality and religion.

I truly believe that healing begins when you are given the guidance you need to draw on your own strengths and realize your potential to live a fulfilling and happy life. I will provide an environment of compassion and support to help you overcome obstacles to move forward and thrive.
