Meet Zabrina Stokes, LCSW (She/Her):
Hello! I’m a therapist and supervisor at Olive Branch Therapy Group and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my undergraduate degree from The College of Staten Island and my graduate degree, advanced standing, from Hunter College. I graduated with a Masters in Social Work.
My Therapy Specialties:
I have over 20 years working with children, adolescents, young adults and families. I use a tailored approach to meet each client’s unique needs. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Expressive/Supportive Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Nurtured Heart Approach, Strengths-Based Approach, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Restorative Practices, Social Emotional Learning and Trauma-Informed Focus of Care.
I have a breadth of experience working within the Child Study Team process in schools. As a child and family therapist, I empower families through psychoeducation, enabling them to advocate for their child’s needs within the school system.
My Supervisory Style and Philosophy:
I believe that it is the responsibility of experienced clinicians to mentor and guide those who are entering the field or expanding their knowledge. I strive to create a collaborative environment where supervisees feel heard, valued, and supported in their professional development. My approach emphasizes mutual learning, where we can share insights and experiences. I am naturally supportive and nurturing, and I aim to create a safe space that fosters growth through empowerment, reflection, and encouragement.
What drew me to this work:
From an early age, I have been driven by a deep desire to help others, whether supporting a peer in need or caring for a stray animal. Throughout my life, there have also been moments when I wished I had someone trustworthy and non judgemental to turn to for guidance and support. This reflection led me to pursue a career in clinical social work, as it aligns with my core values and my passion for making a positive impact on others’ lives. I find great satisfaction in helping individuals navigate difficult times, and if I can make someone’s life just a little bit easier, especially during challenging moments, I feel truly fulfilled.
My style:
I create a warm and welcoming space that feels safe. I learn from each of my clients as much as they learn from me. My approach is rooted in the Nurtured Heart, strengths-based, and collaborative methods. You are the expert on yourself, your family, and/or your child(ren), and I consider it a privilege to be trusted to be part of your journey.
A Little About Me:
I love spending time with friends and family. Some may say I am obsessed with cats but I only have 2 cats and a bearded dragon. I like listening to music, especially live. I like to go for hikes, ride my bike, exercise and dance. I also enjoy listening to true crime podcasts.
Services I offer:
In-person individual therapy, family therapy, and parenting consultations
